PROJECT STATUS - JUNE

Our team has pushed Heart Guard technology forward on its way to final proof-of-concept. Just briefly.

Heart Guard is a new device for use during heart surgery. It is an intraoperative probe to monitor the level of arrested heart metabolism. Till now we have created first functional prototype of the probe and dedicated software. This assembly passed perfectly laboratory test.

In past month Local Ethical Committee for Research on Animals approved our preclinical studies plan for Heart Guard. Thus in September we will perform first cardiac surgery on animal with the use of cardioplegic heart arrest – the same way it is done every day in clinical practice. The aim of series of these operations is to assess functionality of Heart Guard in conditions similar to real cardiac surgery.

In following weeks our team will check functionality of second part of pH-metry system in laboratory environment. This is how the system is being created and checked – step by step.
